What about St. John's College in Annapolis? It definitely is "indie" oriented since it is a Great Books liberal arts school. It is small and it is most certainly not preppy.

Crunchy = indie = non-preppy. I think you need to reread the OP because the schools you suggested are completely the opposite of what OP is seeking.

Mary Washington has no Greek life at all and has become increasingly “indie” over the last decade or so.

My daughter was looking at ShenCo, so I follow a lot of their social media. I am impressed by their student activities and involvement.
