Why would they get pregnant? Why are they idiots? I am not the OP, but my child knows everything she needs to know about the biology of reproduction and most importantly about abstinence. Does MCPS teach abstinence? If not, we are not interested.
This makes the point that they do need sex. Abstinence is not the most important thing.
Under Maryland regulations, abstinence is literally the most important thing.
"Beginning no later than grade 7, teaching shall emphasize that refraining from sexual activity is the best method to avoid sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, and unintended pregnancy."

Why can't they just sit out the class, which it seems most think is ridiculous.
As has been stated several times already on this page, taking the course is a state requirement. MCPS does provide parents with the chance to opt out of the family life lessons specifically, but not the whole course.
