Nah, there's another quote later in the book where he says the exact same thing about how Heath ledger is dead but Keanu Reeves is still alive. He has some sort of specific beef with Reeves, which seems super weird because I'm not aware of Reeves having reputation for out of control drug use. It makes sense, then, that he did not die of an overdose.
Moreover, everyone who's ever worked with Reeves has said he's just genuinely a good dude. He may not be the leading actor of his generation, but he's typically chosen roles that are good for his abilities and has a reputation for being great to his colleagues and crew. He's an extremely weird person to take shots at twice in one book.

But the drug/alcohol destruction in the film and music industry in the 80s was just awful. So many dead and so many who barely survived (Robert downy junior, Rob lowe, Matt perry). I’m sure drugs are still a problem in Hollywood but I don’t think it’s anything like what the young actors in the 80s experienced.
