I came to recommend this. Such a good show. Even I enjoyed it.

I have very fond memories of watching the Flash with my son. There are 9 seasons I think.

I saw it in college and introduced it to my family and we all enjoyed it together with brother who was about 11 then.

I love this show but 11 feels too young for my family.

Wrong. I picked out shows to watch w teen son. If I waited for him we wouldn’t watch anything together.

The Good Place
Brooklyn 99
Cobra Kai

The Mandalorian

Stranger Things was not a hit, and neither were most of the Marvel shows on Disney (he likes the movies well enough, but not the shows).

Any suggestions of shows we can try with him?

Modern Family
Blackish
Kims Convenience was a lot of fun. Sun watched it twice

My kid just watched all of Fresh off the Boat. It’s a little young but sweet.

Sorry any kid who doesn't like Stranger Things is about as bland as they come. All your shows except maybe the Mandalorian are what older white people watch.

Well you seem hideous- labeling at 13 year old boy you don't know as bland...

sounds like Mommy has the final ruling on those shows - they are all old people shows

We have a 13yo and usually watch one episode of tv each night. Here are the shows that have been whole-family hits:

Cartoons (not usually my thing, but these were great):

Both Avatar shows (Last Airbender and Korra)

Hilda

Kipo in the Age of Wonderbeasts (I was lukewarm on first season, but the second and third were great)

Summer Camp Island (a treasure! It was murdered in the latest HBO merger, but I think the old seasons are still streaming)

Not cartoon:

Nailed It! and Great British Baking Show

All of Us Are Dead (Korean with subtitles or dubbing, on Netflix)

Lost in Space

Paper Girls (on Amazon, I think? really impressive show that didn’t get enough attention)

His Dark Materials (can’t remember whether that was the name of the show, but based on that book series) and Shadow & Bone

Marvel series Hawkeye, Ms Marvel, and She-Hulk (I know you said they aren’t your son’s favorite, OP, but each is fairly different so you never know)

Mixed reviews:

Reservation Dogs (I like it, kid doesn’t like that nothing much happens; also FYI there’s a ton of swearing)

High Seas (Spanish show on Netflix with subtitles or dubbing, cheesy melodramatic mystery but in a fun way; note has hints of sex scenes but very little)

Stranger Things (kid loved it, I thought it was “eh”)

Alice in Borderland (Japanese show slightly similar to Squid Game; more violent than I would have chosen for a family show but DD really wanted to watch it)

Next up: Abbott Elementary, maybe Mythic Quest
