The thing I hate is that if you don't want to pet their dog or have it jump on you, they act like it's a character flaw and there's something wrong with you because you don't love their "furbaby." I like dogs just fine, but I grew up with working dogs, not pets that are treated like children and not properly trained. And just because someone doesn't love dogs (or has allergies of whatever) doesn't make them a bad person. I think the bad people here are the ones who get a pet and don't properly train and care for it.

I have this one terrible neighbor that sometimes puts their barking dog outside past midnight. Absolutely insane how people can be this inconsiderate

Dogs are great in pictures.
I don't like dogs. And I had a dog before. We took good care of the dog. It was a dog to us, not a child.

I have seen well behaved owners who knows how to control their many pets but still I have seen one of their dog attacking another dog and who knows if no one else was there, they could've attacked a child.

I have to yield to dogs and their owners while walking around anywhere. Crazy. And I have seen giant German Shephard roaming around the parks on their own for at least 20 minutes. I had to call the police and report that. Not sure if they actually showed up but they were still roaming around when me and my two kids left.

My MIL are pet owners. They can't really travel to see their only grandchild. Why? Because who is going to watch the dogs? The cats are ok on their own but not more than 2 days. But the dog require attention. And when we do go visit them, everything caters around the dog, not the grandchild. They know the dog's eating habits more than their own grandchild's food allergies. We can't go anywhere that does not allow dogs. Ridiculous.

I agree with you about the nuisances of modern dog culture - and we have a dog! I love dogs! But not ill-behaved ones. No, thank you.

Getting all these problem dogs from shelters hasn’t helped much either. Most people do not have the time or inclination to train a difficult dog. So you end up with a large out of control mutt barking slobbering whining and generally be a real pest.

Ha! I own a dog and I find them annoying at times. I also find my children annoying at times. I definitely find other people's children annoying at times too. Humans have been successfully paired with dogs for thousands of years. If we did not benefit from this pairing on some way, we wouldn't do it.

It’s “beck and call.” And of course they serve a purpose in society.

I love dogs and am happy that my neighborhood has mostly great dog owners. Now, kids, OTOH I don’t enjoy. And there are plenty of bad parents around. Loud, inconsiderate children. I’d rather have more dogs around.

I have a dog and he doesn’t do this. Instead he whines and whines. Even if he is sitting next to me. No he has to be in my lap or smearing his butt on me while I try to watch tv. And I cannot stop petting him lest the whining begin again.

Oh and I cannot invite anyone over because he barks the entire time. We hired a babysitter the other night and it turned out he followed her the entire time licking her hands feet and legs, peeing on the floor in exciting. And pooping in the house. Yes he gets so excited about people that he loses all control over bodily functions.
