The Borders cafe?? It was just a cafe that was run by the bookstore.

I always got the California chicken salad in the food court. I was glad to see that J Chows (or whatever it’s name is) moved to Montgomery Mall.

I didn’t grow up here but live only about 10 minutes away and it was so convenient to park right by the movie theater when I had little kids. There was also something called Discovery Zone with lots of kids play places we used to go to on the top floor. I miss Borders! Actually, I miss the whole mall.

I magnum with the elevator going up the middle, the best vanilla custard shop, the delicious Chinese chicken salad at the food court, what was their magic dressing? Got my hair cut across from the food court in the fancy salon- think it was called Rainbow?

Wandering Borders while waiting for a table at The Cheesecake Factory (where MIL insisted we go every time she visited).

I tried to take my tween niece to Dave and Busters and couldn't get her in because I wasn't 25 yet. Remember when Dave and Busters had age requirements? That was 20 years ago.

We used to walk there after school. The $3 Jerry's pizza which would probably taste like cardboard today seemed so good. The Lord and Taylor which seemed so high end at the time.

I remember it wasn't a great mall....but they had the Cheesecake Factory. We'd check in for a 3-4 hour wait (?!!) Then walk around the mall until we could eat. I do remember the bookstore was one of the things I liked.

That was big excitement back in the day!

I am certain the name still makes many people feel unsafe using that metro station.

I still miss Bertucci's. I used to go to the Borders in the 90s. Bliss. Took my kids there in the early 2000s to ride the train, go to borders, eat at bertuccis. I also shopped a lot at Lord & Taylors.

I Magnin was like a mirage on Rockville Pike that I would stare at from my car window as my mom drove past it to take us shopping at Hecht's. So fancy.
