This was our elementary school in a couple of the years-- they combined the classes for parties. They tended to get enough parents showing up to help, but basically relied on the other room parent for organizign games.

While they’ve largely done away with the traditional celebrations, I’m sure they will still have room parents. Otherwise, who will coordinate the teacher’s gifts for [the winter holiday we can’t celebrate or mention].

I’ve done it but it kinda stinks. Asking parents for money, parents grumbling about how money is spent, kids complaining about the activities and food etc.

To be fair, there were some appreciative parents and kids but the complainers are the loudest bunch.

I'd actually email the teacher to let her know that I can't come in often because of XYZ; however, you're happy to help organize/facilitate things as needed, collect funds, send out sign up geniuses, etc.

My guess is there likely would still be celebrations but not with the extra frills the other classes might have.

The more likely consequence is that teacher will not get support, acknowledgment, or gifts throughout the year.

DP. This attitude is really obnoxious and entitled. Why do you assume anyone else has more time than you, and is obligated to use it to give your kid a holiday party?
