Yep. That's exactly what they did (not sure if that's the case with the update). I have been at multiple schools and they covered ALL the fees for their programs - including 5+ field trips in a year for their middle school program. They are such a valuable resource.
I guess the question is: why should some schools get 5+ fully paid field trips while other schools get zero? Is there not a way every student could at least get to go once? I strongly feel each mcps student should have relatively similar opportunities available districtwide. Clearly mcps does NOT feel this way because they continue to set up programming that is only available to small subsets of the district, and access always seems to be based on the parents’ home address.
Jesus - THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE EXPANSION. Tell that to the Title 1 kids that your Timmy didn't get his fair chance. Go away and take care of your kids, b/c clearly your education failed you. Leave it to the professionals.
You sound unhinged. The expansion is to bring the program to some elementary schools. It was previously only for select middle schools. So no, that is not the whole point of the expansion, you are completely mistaken. No one is trying to take anything away from any kids. We are trying to find out how more kids can benefit from a program that mcps says aligns with the curriculum and seems worthwhile. Why do you want to deny any public school child anything?
The OP is nuts about this issue. This is like their 5th thread ranting and raving about this and everytime others explain to them there isn't a conspiracy but it doesn't seem to help because we'll be back on this again in a few weeks

They were very selective about schools/funding when I was working with them 6 or 7 years ago. I assume not much has changed. Many of the tech teachers were disappointed when their schools were not selected. Strangely there were also - few low farms MS’s selected as well. At the time I assumed that it was because they had a stronger working relationship with some of the staff (example: those involved with county curriculum development and planning).

This cannot be the full story as we were at a high farms school and told no to free, even a virtual program which takes one person an hour.

It's not actually. But keep praying and maybe you will find out what this money is really being spent on.
