Of course! That's why skinny jeans were in for so long, despite "skinny" in the name.

I have a small waist and larger butt/thighs and skinny jeans with long tops did absolutely nothing for me. I'm thrilled wide leg and flared jeans are back - they work so much better for me (I never entirely quit wearing them).


Right here with you. Never gave up my boot cuts - skinny jeans just emphasized my hips and made my bottom half look like an inverted triangle

I agree- I think many different tops would look good with wide leg jeans as long as they are tucked in.

OMG- I’m “unfashionable mom” and I had to come back here to correct myself. Wide leg jeans do NOT look good with any old top as long as it’s tucked in. I ordered a pair to try and after going through several tops in my closet, I think a fitted cotton turtleneck is most flattering. I still think other cuts are more flattering on me, but I like the wide-leg style for a little change of pace. I think it’s a cool look.

I agree with you, but in any case all these models in pictures have pretty narrow hips and they would look great in wide leg jeans as well.

The wide-leg look is just not flattering on most people. For most women over age 25, I find straight / loosish jeans to be most flattering.

I don't think it's less forgiving--just forgiving for different people. Works great for pears like me who are small on top and bigger on the bottom. So glad that skinny jeans are on their way out!


Me, too! I’m a slight pear with a long torso and love the high-waisted look; make it a paperbag style and that is the most flattering look on my figure. But I understand that it is not for others.

I got thrown to the wolves on this forum (about 6 months ago) when I suggested the look in pic #1. I was the literal laughing stock for even suggesting this look.


I wouldn’t be so mean about it, but I am not a fan of the oversized blazer for middle-aged and older. If you are younger or if it looks good on you, go for it. I came from the “frump” thread and look #1 could be very frumpy on some.

Yeah, it’s not flattering at all! Too boxy and way too much fabric and clothes going on. Does nothing for your shape.

If you're tall and slim, just wear wide leg jeans with the crop top or tucked in slim tops above. You don't have to have skin showing.
