Same here and HS math. There may be a couple of weekend a year where I’m behind and spend a few hours grading but that’s rare now.
It’s personality. Some in my department stay until 6 every day and come in on the weekend and then complain about how much they work. They don’t use their time effectively and create a lot of busy work.

HAHAHAHA! Some, maybe, but the vast majority are working more than 40 easy. My DH probably has 30 hours worth of meetings in a week alone.

I try and keep my working hours under 40. In busy periods, maybe 42-43.
I’m a teacher (hs) and have lots of experience. But at the end of the day, my kids matter too.

Me too. I'm a teacher and my side gigs are on the weekends. So it's probably equal to 6 days per week. On the 7th day, I plan for the week. That takes at least 3-4 hrs.

You’ve never heard of lawyers, investment bankers, accountants…? 50 hours isn’t even that much. When I was at a Big 4, we were expected to work 70-80+ hours during “busy season”.

OP, I would say it’s not unusual for salaried employees to work long hours. The question is, do you mind it, given your pay and benefits.
