I wouldn’t do this for the last day of camp but medical conditions affecting the bowel do fall under the ADA. My friends kid had a whole IEP around her issues (which included encopresis) school had to deal.

4 year old might remember. I had diarrhea at preschool and took too long in the bathroom and was punished by having to sit out storytime at age 4 and I still remember how unfair I thought it was over 40 years later!!

Op can your kid make some goodbye cards that you could drop off?



If this lasts into public PK, yes, would need a 504 to deal with it. But OP laid none of that groundwork and gave the camp no time to reasonably prepare. And places only have to make reasonable accommodations. A constantly poopy preschooler may not be reasonable to have at a summer camp. TBH I would have kept my kid home if I knew they might be pooping out of control for whatever reason.

Also, doing a Miralax cleanse isn’t fun - my youngest has had to do this more than once. It’s kinder all around to keep him home where he can be clean and comfortable.

+1 There's a diarrhea rule at most daycares. How is the daycare supposed to know that your kid doesn't have a virus? And in any case, it's not fair to ask them to clean it up.

Is this a joke? Temporary constipation is not a disability, even if it's debilitating at the time. And there's no ADA right to send a 4 year old to non-essential summer camp.

How old is this kid? I think if you sent a kid who is essentially not potty trained to a camp that requires potty training, you were kinda asking for this.

Regardless, if he’s 4 or under, he’s probably not even going to remember this.

Yup. Also, OP, your kid is your responsibility and at the end of the day, you do have to be available at any hour to drop everything to get them. I’m not sure why you thought otherwise?

+1 If this was a repeated issue, you're asking too much. I'm sorry your kid was disappointed, but he was probably feeling uncomfortable too. At that age, they can't clean it up by themselves.

Assuming you don’t mean “threaten them with reporting something that is not actually a violation of the ADA in hopes of getting my own way” the OP does not have time to get the documentation in place to support a request for reasonable accommodation by this morning. Something tells me OP is not going to find that this camp has availability for her next summer.
