As a parent I would not think that I need to wake up with my 10 year old 5th graders. I also wouldn’t expect that their aunt wouldn’t tell them where the cereal was if they asked. You need to stop vacationing with your extended family.

Do you hate your nieces/nephews? Your SIL?
Agree. If you are up already?
Nephews are 8 & 10 and bowls and cereal are on the counter. Milk is in the fridge. They are perfectly capable of getting it themselves.

And, is Dad there? If he is, WHY NOT GO WAKE UP DAD?

FIL says he will order pizza for dinner. Orders ONE pizza for 7 people. 2nd night, declares that he and MIL are going out to dinner alone. SIL makes no move to do anything so I order food for everyone and pay for everyone.
It's not terrible in the grand scheme of things, just so different than my family.
Ugh my ILs under-order, too. Last time we visited them at their rented beach condo for the day (we were staying elsewhere) MIL picked up sandwiches for lunch - three sandwiches for 5 people - with the expectation that we'd each split a sandwich. I'm not talking about giant footlong hoagies, either, just regular deli sandwiches.
MIL does the same. I’m so tired of hearing her exclaim how huge every single food item is. A lot of the time, it’s just a regular portion. She inevitably eats the whole thing and then complains about how we should have shared. I don’t want to share, ever. We will also make a plan to order and then she suddenly starts talking about how we should just eat something from the pantry. No thanks!
My MIL is like this! Just tonight at dinner she went on and on about how her husband gave her way too much spaghetti…she ate it all and an extra piece of garlic bread and dessert but honestly yapped about the portion size for 10 minutes.
I have family members who do this. "We always split our food - waiters are always surprised at how little we order!" followed by, indeed, splitting an appetizer, but then ordering another one and splitting that, and ditto on the main dishes and dessert, so the meal takes forever. It's a running joke in my family whenever we go out to eat with these people. And they are lovely people but it's always a real decision to eat with them because that isn't even all they do. There's also switching tables multiple times, sending back the coffee if it isn't hot enough, and various other things that are super annoying to DH and me because we are pretty low key eaters. I tend to assume if I don't like something i ordered that it's on me, and I would never send anything back to the kitchen unless it was completely uncooked.
One time in college I went out to eat with them (before realizing the full extent of the food crazy) and as they launched into their routine, the waiter took a step back and said slowly, "Hey, I remember you ...." It was mortifying. At least they tip well.
