Wow, what are the odds that there are two DDs debating between UMich and a program at Emory that doesn't really exist?

Bizarre.

I just read that entire thread. It was amusing. The same troll kept it going for pages by making up nonsense. I see he/she is trying to do the same thing again two years later. Thanks for pointing this out…..this should be the conclusion of this inane discussion.

Emory doesn't have engineering.

Michigan engineer here - it’s not a question. And my DH went to Emory so not as though I’m totally ignorant of the place.

Maybe the OP means Ga Tech - also in Atlanta?

Anonymous wrote:Wait what? In whose universe is Emory more prestigious than Michigan? If anything I’d say it’s the reverse, though I’d be happy for my kid to go to either. So she should put that aside.

Has she visited?

In this one. But I don't think Emory even has an engineering program so the question is odd.

One difference. Emory does not have an engineering school.

I acknowledge Michigan is viewed as a safety school for many here and DD does not feel comfortable with going to a lesser known school, which is why she has been leaning toward Emory. What advice should I tell her?

There isn't that much difference to alter her life so pick more affordable option, if cost is similar them let her pick one which puts spring in her step and smile on her lips.

Emery doesn’t have an engineering school. They have a combined program with Georgia Tech, but then you have to split your time between two schools. Michigan is by far the superior choice for engineering.

Let me say this as kindly as I possibly can. People that go into engineering, and especially those that go to graduate school, know how other schools really stack up. I’m sure Emory is a good school. But nobody would pick it over Michigan for engineering based on quantitative and objective factors.
