My DH from a burb of NYC is very, very loud. And our daughter. I think that's just NYC culture. I was sort of in shock on our first date. Many years later, I just plug my ears sometimes when they yell-talk.

So here is what the author is missing -- one person's fun noise is another person's hell. Do you have the right to put neighbors in hell? Not really.

Perhaps we need to combine this thread with the smoke alarm thread.

I live on a dead end street in a quiet leafy suburb. But I LOVE the silence of our house in Maine and at the beach. I sleep like the dead and other people’s barking dogs, loud voices, or cars/airplanes don’t enter my Brian. It’s like meditation.
