I’m a dedicated teacher and my life is about kids. That’s always been enough for me. DH is a pediatrician and feels the same way.

We’re in our early 60’s now and have no regrets. It’s been a pretty lovely life.

My dad has an aunt and uncle who never had any kids. He is now taking care of them since they are in their late 80s/early 90s and having health issues. Not sure what would have happened if he didn't step up.

My mom is one of 4 kids and they all helped with their aging parents.

We have family friends who never had kids and the wife sort of just went batty. She never worked (even though she never had kids) and is just super odd like she lost direction in her life.


Do you think all the lonely old people forgotten in old folks homes are childfree?

My nieces, nephew, and Godchildren will care for me if I need it and DH dies first. I have no doubt - we’re very close and I have always been there for them. My oldest Godchild is executor of our will as she is an attorney.

Start a different thread. There’s a huge difference between 0 kids and 1 kid.

My kids are grown and love me.

My point was just that a lot of people are coming on this thread and saying they don’t want kids because they’re too screwed up to raise them right. And I’m thanking them for that. Too bad so many others are less self aware.
