Piercing pagoda 2x at our mall - when my daughter was 8 weeks and then recently at 18. $75 each time for both ears (bought 14k gold plated studs). No problem. They do piercing all.the.time. It depends on your comfort level.

The piercing guns used my Claire’s and similar use a relatively dull metal post to crush your ear tissue until the post comes through the other side. Huge difference from going to a piercing studio that uses hollow needles which remove the tissue, leaving a hole for the jewelry. Those are straight, do not have scar tissue from a crush injury, and they use quality jewelry.

DD just got her 2nd holes done at a tattoo & piercing shop for ~$275 (with tip). I think it was like $50 per hole and $65 per stud.

This was her birthday present.

Brilliance in Vienna won’t pierce anyone under 13…even just earlobe piercing. Ridiculous. I honestly think my DD will be scared to see the people at a tattoo/piercing shop with all the crazy piercings. They have pictures of the piercers with giant saucers in their ears and various nose, lip rings…how do I explain that to my daughter?

You get what you pay for.

Ear piercing guns are terrible for the skin and the person using it probably has minimal training.
Needle piercing is so much better but you are going to pay more for the services of a professional.
Both Craig Pokes U and Brilliance are excellent.

This is a permanent form of body modification. Don’t cheap out.

The extreme pricing comes from the “DMV Tax” - where everything in this area is extremely overpriced.

$400 for simple ear piercing would get you laughed at throughout most of the Midwest.


It's not $400, OP's child just wants the expensive gold earrings. Titanium is better and cheaper.
