Received a text a few minutes ago that my ballot has now been counted.
I just got that too- assuming there must have been a lag in the system as I thought all votes had already been counted.

Really, “twitter is your friend?” I NEVER go on twitter. Why have a whole system to report something if your not using it.
This is a good point. They create a system and don’t use it and instead post updated to a private app that few people use.
They used Twitter because they needed to contact people who typically don't vote.
Twitter reports their user base as 230 million “monetizable daily active users” globally, which is also certainly an exaggeration of the actual number of real people that use the platform. Then disaggregate by how many of those global users are based in Montgomery County and then consider potential reach to a non voting audience through their 777vote account. The tweet above got 22 RTs and 38 Likes in a county of over a million people. Absolute joke to suggest that this is an appropriate medium to reach voters.

They use twitter because that's the preferred platform of the local politicians. That's their audience. They are performing for their bosses.
Twitter is a quick way to share brief updates with the public, either directly or through the local news outlets.
