They required it for orientation. I'm guessing masks will be tied to community level. It's pretty high right now, so not surprised to see masks.
I know this isn't a welcome opinion on here - but if "mask theater" keeps kids in school, I'm ok with it. My kids don't mind wearing masks, but I'm fine if they do or don't. I just never want to go virtual again.
Latin never unmasked last year. If you are a new family, just be aware. They also required two masks for much of a pandemic. Community Transmission was low. Masks or vaccines? Who knows.

Is "requesting" = "requiring"?

Capital City is a joke. Such a sad decline for what was once a great school.

This.
There needs to be proof that these mitigation measures are actually effective. Without any data showing that masks/vaccine mandates/school closures actually are a difference, we need to life these useless policies.
Speak for yourself. There are many of us who were vigilant about masking everywhere indoors and have yet to catch covid. The people who complain there is no proof that mitigation worked are the people who ensured community spread by pretending "covid is over" as soon as adult vaccines were out.

I would normally be described as pretty far to the let it go side. But, my kids went from a mandatory indoor masking charter to whatever you want summer camps. They haven't gotten Covid but after almost 3 years with minimal illness, have been sick and sick and sick again. With some gross stuff we haven't seen in years. Maybe it means we should be unmasking and letting their immune systems get back to work? But, I miss the lack of sick days.
THIS. Our (kids and us) immune systems need to rebound. Put down the hand sanitizer.
