DH drives a manual, 2-door, S5. He wanted a manual, liked the sleek look of the 2-door and gogo of the S model.
DS drives an A3 convertible. He wanted a convertible and a used A3 was the best deal we could find.
I drive a Mercedes SUV. it’s more roomy than the Audi SUVs and has a nicer interior.

I drive an S4. We bought it certified preowned with very low mileage. It is a top safety pick, awd, decent gas mileage, and I like the performance and handling. I am not an aggressive driver at all. I did not want or need an SUV, and it was much less expensive than most of the new SUVs in our neighborhood anyway.

If you know, you know. I drive an Audi that looks like a regular boring vehicle, but people who know cars well will come up to me and talk about it, as they notice the small styling difference that denote it's a rare model (the RS line).
I'm guessing that you've never seen an R8. For sleeper models, my father drives debadged mercedes amg wagon that is both fast and as unassuming as you can get.
The R8 is about as flashy as Audi gets, and that's basically a 2-seater exotic that most people aren't going to use as an everyday car. Even then, it doesn't turn that many heads.
All other models are more understated. Look at the RS6 for example. A regular station wagon unless you look closely. Great family car.

A7 driver here: I live my life a quarter-mile at a time. You'd be surprised at how vibrant the DCUM underground street racing scene is.

I had a bmw m5 in my early 30s. It was nice, fast and fun to drive.
When we had more than 1 kid we dumped it, looked at the suvs and liked Audi over bmw.
I’ve never been interested in Mercedes.
We have had 2 q7 s and like them.

Unfortunately, Audi doesn't offer manual transmission anymore.
Yeah I know. Ours is ten years old. Might have to get the next one in Germany and take delivery.
