We have 2 of these and they are awesome at killing mosquitos. I am a mosquito magnet and I hate spraying. Ours leave a mess of dead bugs below it so just place it where that won't matter.

We have a company come out to spray and put the pellets in any standing water every other month and we STILL have mosquitos. Have tried two companies with the same results. So we basically can't use our yard for three months out of the year. It sucks. If anyone knows something that works better than spraying I'm all ears.

Bumping this because the annual “how do I murder every insect in a mile radius and not feel bad about it?” posts are starting again. If everyone makes these dunk buckets, the mosquito population will be far far reduced.

Be vigilant about standing water, dump everything after a rain. Check lawn furniture and plastic toys left around the yard.
Add screens to drains or anyplace there might be standing water.
Don't use a leaf blower. Do leave dead leaves in your flowerbeds to create habitat for other native insects.
Plant native plants to attract other insects and birds and keep the mosquito population down.
