I think people are being hard on you. If you only spoke briefly and softly, I think everyone needs to relax. People forget what it’s like to be home all day with a young child (or they never did it so can’t relate). It’s tough and sometimes you make friends in a toddler music class & want to say hi for a quick minute.

I remember it well, and I still don't chat with someone else during a class.

OP: STFU in class. Nobody wants to hear you or your friend. Before or after class, and meet elsewhere.

Sorry, I find the "this nanny" language (repeated) highly sus. Sorry you're lonely but you can chat after class, beyond rude to annoy others during.

No, she was not rude at all from what you describe. It is rude to have side conversations during a group activity where others may be distracted. My kids are now teens and I still remember the moms who chatted during music together, completely oblivious to the fact that they were really annoying others. Total inability to read the room. Funnily enough, three of those moms continued similarly through preschool and (as I hear from old friends) even into their kids’ high school.

So just meet up with your friend at one of your homes. Put the kids in a safe area and enjoy a cup of coffee while chatting. The music class is for those wanting to engage in an instructor-led activity with their kids. You are the problem here, OP.

Don’t talk during class. Model good behavior for the kids.

Also, I’m not sure you were as quiet or unobtrusive as you think. Generally, most people won’t say anything if something is minimally disruptive— which makes me think you were really grating on her and the other participants.
