Everything Riemer claims as a top priority has gotten worse since he’s been in office, especially housing. He talks a lot and says a lot of nice sounding things but he’s been an abysmal failure as a legislator.

“Says nice things?” He speaks so inarticulately that all of his campaign speeches are some form of “c’mon guys”.

Fair point. New poll has Riemer in an even more distant third.

It really is a two-way race between Blair and Elrich.

What about Blair’s platform screams Republican to you?

Blair gives me Youngkin vibes. All Mr. Friendly Neighbor smile but ice pick eyes.

So it has nothing to do with his platform at all. Just his appearance. Okay.

It’s the blue blazer, car salesman smile business chat that causes mistrust

If you want folksy, go with Elrich, but if you want progress, Reimer all the way.

Look, I voted for Blair, so I'm not an Elrich guy.

But in WHAT world is Elrich 'folksy'. He's an old grumpy curmudgeon. There's nothing charming or folksy about him

I just can’t get behind choosing a candidate based on appearance. Have you even read his platform?

Elrich has obstructed nothing. Hans has set development policy. A huge failure.

Yes, read his platform. Then look at how the county has done. There’s a reason he doesn’t run on his record.

The original poster was referring to Blair, I believe, saying that Blair has an appearance that causes mistrust. Have you read Blair’s platform?
As for how the county has done and not running on a record, that would be Elrich.

There is literally no point to voting for Riemer. None at all.

So your choices are Blair or Elrich who are two very different candidates.

I'm voting Elrich then. I'll be taking my ballot to the drop box tonight.

+1

Cool, voting for Elrich now. I was one of the undecided voters who was polled in the recent polls.

I am curious why Elrich over Blair. Is it because he looks Republican, as the poster above stated? He’s fresh air for the county. Things aren’t good right now, so I don’t understand why more Elrich years would make them better. (Increased crime comes to mind first. Failure to attract business comes next.)

Not the PP but both of these are exaggerated. And Elrich has done a very good job with the pandemic- MoCo did very well because of it.

I agree he did well with the pandemic, but that’s it. I disagree that the others are exaggerated. It’s no secret that Montgomery County has significantly increased crime and a dwindling police force, something that happened in large part because of Elrich’s lack of support. As for business, look at how much has been lost to Virginia.

I know. Here, if you aren't insanely progressive, you are seen as a fascist. No room for moderates or liberals.

If you're a progressive, the right will always villainize you like this. You're insane. Sorry but if you want "moderates", I'm sure there are other places you could live. You know what MoCo politics are like and you choose to stay here. What is it you right wingers are always saying about people having the option to move? Move to Texas or whatever.

I have lived here since 2007. It was a very different place. It’s only been under Elrich’s reign that things have imploded. I haven't voted Republican since 2000. I am a mainline Democrat but not progressive. While i believe in progressive ideas, I see that leadership isn’t smart enough to implement wide sweeping changes without harming the very people they aim to help.

+1. Have also lived here a while and have noticed the changes. Even within a listserv I am on, there is such increasing hostility from the progressives towards other members who aren’t in lock step with their progressive ideals. That type of animosity used to be directed towards trump and republicans and now they’ve turned inward. It’s bizarre.

Republicans don't want me to exist. Some want me dead. I'm not going to both sides people that want to murder me.

Once again, notice your equated fellow liberals with Republicans. I guess if you are far, far left your perception might get skewed. If you are only going to acknowledge your own very tiny sphere, you’ll fail to see how many people actually support you.
