I will take off sick if I get Covid. Not putting my health or recovery at risk for work from home administrators.

No, you use your existing sick leave like has been the case for decades with every other illness

This. No more two week paid vacations for popping an asymptomatic positive test. Use sick leave like everyone else.

How much vacation time do you think teachers get?

You get 5 personal days a year.

Cue dcum parents who are furious that teachers might need to take a day off during the school year

These whiners want to keep covid alive forever. Sorry, not playing any more.

Covid still exists whether you want to believe in it or not. And you still have to quarantine for 5 days if you're sick.

Guarantee staffing issues will improve. No more COVID excuses. My kid’s teacher was ridiculous this year.

And you are already wrong. MCPS can’t even keep the summer school buses with all the people out sick.

Teachers are paid for 216 days a year. I just got Mail from MCPS about my step increase and it included my salary information plus how many days I’m paid for per year.

Don't know but they work around 180 days a year.

There are 260 work days in a normal year, when you subtract vacation time I promise teachers are not that far off from you. They don't get paid in the summer. And many work summer jobs or have paid training in the summer.

Does anyone know if the county plans to drop Care First for county employees or is it just an MCPS thing?

You understand they are on a contract and those are paid days. They are not paid summers.

There was an email from ERSC tonight. They're dropping CareFirst PPO and HMO as of 1/1/2023 and offering Cigna instead. It's just absurd timing. As if employees weren't stressed enough already, let's destabilize everyone's insurance situation. They noted that it will save them money, and also that most of us hopefully won't lose access to too many doctors. I'm sure they think that's reassuring.

Lord have mercy!! I have had a very hard year with my Crohn's and Pancreas issues. I had 3 hospitalizations and several procedures. I absolutely love my team of doctor's as they have even talked to my principal when I suddenly had an attack in class and advised her on what to do. I could not have taught effectively this year without Care First and my team. I am not sure what to do. I hate Kaiser and almost died under their care. I have to check out my husband's insurance options. 😩

Thanks MCPS! This teacher loves her job, kids and their families. Despite medical hardships, I only took 3 sick days and a .5 personal day this year and spent 72 hours covering other teacher's kids because we had no subs. But, hey, maybe with the money they saved on our health insurance, we can get subs!!!😬

Have you checked to see if your doctors take Cigna? They have a much larger network than CareFirst.

It seems like they want more teachers to retire so that they can hire who they want I guess

Have fun with more resignations and more Covid parents. This is insane.

They are going to have more employees hitting the door with this—so dumb.

To the BOE candidates who will hopefully replace Wolff and the other incumbents this fall. Please make this a priority issue. My concern is that McKnight and the incumbents are exercising a scorched earth policy. There needs to be a counterbalance to their policies.
