There is no "Einstein cluster". My guess is that Woodward will not be a single high school cluster but become part of the DCC.

Sure, if you believe adjacent schools like WJ and BCC are in the DCC. Changes to these boundaries will impact all schools including the DCC but they aren't going to bus kids across the county for your convenience.

None of the schools mentioned are "across the county" from each other. WJ is adjacent to two of the DCC schools: Wheaton and Einstein.

Yes, the reopening of Woodward will impact the boundaries of adjacent schools like WJ, Einstein, and BCC mainly, but to a lesser degree schools like Wheaton sure.

Viers Mill ES in the Wheaton cluster is the closest DCC school to Woodward and will almost certainly be affected. BCC schools are not in scope for this project.

This poster insists on BCC being part of the Woodward realignment every time the topic comes up. Posters have pointed out that there are multiple feeders to Wheaton and Einstein that are closer to Woodward than any of the BCC feeders, but it never sinks in to her.

And MCPS has clearly said Woodward is to relieve overcrowding at WJ and the DCC. Not BCC.

Perhaps that someone just has a weird dyslexia.

BCC was originally part of the DCC until the Karens insisted it be separate; nevertheless, it is still one of the only downcounty schools.

Yes, a larger high school, but that is the way MCPS builds them now. Don't like it, move.

Nothing in the news about neighbors. They seem fine with it.

Judging by their comments at the community updates the past couple years, they are absolutely not fine with it. However, the option which MCPS ultimately selected and is proceeding with is one that removes fewer trees than several others that were under consideration.

The trees are all gone. They were clear cut weeks ago.

There were other options that would have removed even more of them on the Edson side.

MCPS removed all the trees. They are gone.
Everyone should be happy with MCPS destroying the tree canopy in Montgomery County. Climate change is a hoax.

the edson "forest" is still there.

The Edson forest has a lot of advocates. There were not as many vociferous preservationists for the other trees.

Instead, the people wanted a stadium, and a baseball field, and a softball field, and tennis courts, and basketball courts, and adequate parking...

You mean a normal high school.

Yes, exactly

But they didn't get it. No outdoor basketball courts, because you know

There are outdoor basketball courts next to the bus loop:

Of course there is still an Einstein cluster. Just because schools are part of a consortium doesn't mean their cluster ceases to exist. There is a default cluster-based feeder pattern. There are still cluster coordinators who give testimony at hearings on behalf of each cluster. The board has periodic on-site cluster meetings; Einstein's most recent was in 2019.

No one will know who is going to Woodward until they start the process 18 months prior to opening (and then complete that process). Originally the opening was F 2025 for Woodward (F 2023 for Northwood), but according to some previous posters those dates may be changed to 2024 and 2026.
