I’ll suggest Miami Ohio. It’s not that big, in a college town an hour from cities, has D1 football and fraternities. Slightly colder weather compared to DC. Much easier to get in than UVA.

Virginia Tech. DS toured three times and lived it (for aerospace engineering). I loved it. DW loved it. We could really see DS there but he got into UVA and went there and never looked back.

Miami of Ohio. beautiful small college town, happy students, frats and sororities, welcomes DC area kids. And definitely easier than UVA to get into.

Yes a good match but Clemson is difficult to get into out of state. If you are full pay it helps.


Clemson is not a difficult admit out of state for anyone in state who is borderline UVA or better.


Clemson acceptance rate is 45% - presumably lower for out of state students.
