My husband travels a ton for work and I’ve traveled twice in the recent peak. I wore masks on planes and transportation/elevators but still ate at restaurants and stayed in hotels. No masks in meetings either. Just got back from vacation where we ate out a lot and stayed with family and no Covid. I’m immune compromised.

Travel stories from before April/May of 2022 aren't relevant. The new strains are super contagious and vaccination means nothing to whether you get covid. We had traveled a lot during covid but only got it on our trip in June despite driving instead of flying and strict mask wearing. Everyone I know who has traveled recently had at least some members of their family get covid. Its just the way it is right now.

I travel every single week, have for a year, international and domestic, never had Covid. I shake hands, I go out for drinks, I sit in conferences with hundreds of people, 2-6 flights a week. 100% healthy.

I went to UK twice this year once in Jan and more recently in June. Didn't get covid either time but did wear a KN95 mask in airport and plane and only took it off to eat quickly. I did get a covid exposure notification from my flight back recently but didn't get infected.

Forgot to add that we masked up on the plane (this was when it was still required, so everyone was masked). We did not eat on the plane and didn't take our masks off except briefly for drinks of water. We were mostly masked while walking around the hotel, but ate a lot of meals indoors. We did not mask much at Disney.

Fast forward a few months and my DH got it at work, who then spread it to the rest of us.

OP, everyone I have known to have flown in the past 3 weeks has come back with COVID.

I personally am the exception. I flew just about 2 hours domestically there and back. I wore a KN95 mask and kept it on throughout the entire airport wait time and flight (except briefly I removed my mask in the airport while far away from other people, just to eat or drink something). I did not eat or drink anything on the airplane.

While at my destination I removed my mask while visiting elderly family members but kept it on anywhere else.

I don't want to jinx us.

Drove to the beach, stayed in a rental house, ate inside several restaurants, but were mostly outside. No covid.

We have been traveling throughout the pandemic. DH has to travel for work. I started traveling for work ~ 6 months ago. We have traveled as a family multiple times.

1) we always maintain space at airports
2) N95 mask double masked before they were readily available
3) don’t eat on planes or in airport

We have been to the West Coast twice, Europe twice, and Fl. Always tested before and after. No issues. That being said we are also pretty cautious when we arrive. Most activities are outdoor: skiing, swimming, biking or boating. No meals in restaurants, take away only.

In the past several months, we've flown to Texas to visit relatives, we've flown to Florida for a beach vacation, and we've flown to San Diego for another vacation. We masked when it was required (in April) and we didn't when it wasn't required (in May/June). No Covid for our family of 4. We are all triple vaxxed and all have mild Omicron over winter break.

We wear N95 or KF94 masks indoors and eat outside or in our own AirBnBs. The two times we ate inside last summer, Covid cases were significantly lower than they are currently. We briefly took off our masks on transatlantic flights to take quick sips of our drinks, but didn't eat. We sanitize our hands when visiting busy, touristy places, to avoid going down with any viral infection that would ruin our trips.

So far so good.

DD and I went to California and didn't get COVID. We masked in the airport and on the plane. We stayed in a hotel for part of the trip and (mostly) masked there when we were close to other people -- e.g., when we were checking in -- note that front desk staff were masked. We hung out in the lobby a bit and didn't mask because it was easy to keep some distance from other guests. For part of the trip we stayed at an Airbnb -- a house, not an apartment. At restaurants we ate outside except for two meals -- at one of which I was sure we would get COVID because tables were close together, ceiling was low and it looked pretty MAGA-like (on the way to Lake Tahoe). We didn't take public transportation -- walked or did Lyft/Uber or drove a car that a friend lent us. We did a lot of hiking and walking. We went to a museum on a weekday, so pretty empty. We went into a few stores and mostly wore masks inside. We're now getting ready for DH and DS to do a lot of traveling, together and separately. We'll see what happens next.
