Glibness aside—“closing the border” tighter will do nothing to stop migration. Desperate people will find a way, and the harder you make it, the more risk they will take, and the more tragedies like this you will see.
Do Republicans have any ideas for making Latin America better for the people that live there? Doubt it.
OK. First of all.... there are so many fallacies with your post.
Biden now has the dubious honor of overseeing the most illegal encounters in history. And, he also has the dubious honor of having the most "got aways" in history. The people come in are NOT just from Latin America. They are from all over the world.... Afghanistan, China, Africa, and countless other countries. More than 100 countries, actually.
They are coming here because the word is out.... if you arrive to our southern border, you have a damn good chance of getting in and staying. Biden has made that clear with his rhetoric and his policies. And, if you don't believe me..... listen to the migrants themselves.
This is just one. There are many other similar videos out there.....
Where is our "border czar" Kamala who was supposed to be working on "root causes?" Absent. Just like Biden (who, BTW - has NEVER in his life been to the southern border). And, Mayorkas is doing nothing to secure our border.
Their strategy is to facilitate entries and "relocation" - much like a travel agency. They are doing nothing to make our border more secure. Just making it easier to process and transport migrants who enter.
"Desperate people who find a way" need to be stopped at the border, detained, and processed. Then, deported. But, that is not happening. They are being transported to places further inland because the record numbers. The border agents have been pulled to process, babysit, transport, and care for migrants instead of doing their jobs of patrolling our border. That is why we have a record number of got aways with Biden... the border is not secure and agents are not patrolling it to catch the got aways.
We have given BILLIONS of $$ to Latin American countries. It has not helped. More money is not going to do it.
Secure the border. Deport illegal entries. The message will get out that you won't get in if you come. And, allow the border agents to do their jobs.

It is what happens when we have a president who refuses to secure the border and enforce our border laws.
Few people realize that more migrants died trying to enter our country during Biden's first year than under Obama or Trump. And, his second year is likely to be even worse.
Over 650 migrants died at the U.S.-Mexico border in 2021, as of the most recent data posted in a Wednesday report by the International Organization for Migration's Missing Migrants Project.
650 Die at Border in First Year of Biden, 24 Percent More Than Peak Under Trump, Obama
This figure represents a 24 percent jump from the previous high of 524 posted in 2019, prior to the pandemic, under then-President Donald Trump. Furthermore, this number represents a steeper jump than the figures reported over the last three years of the Obama administration when a high of 412 was reported in 2016, representing a 58 percent change.
In the first year of his presidency, Joe Biden has overseen a continued surge of migration at the Southwest border that rose each month of his tenure from the end of January 2021 up until July 2021.

WHY don't we have a coherent worker visa program that would actually address this?
Or arrest the employers instead.
I agree with arresting the employers. But employers who hire undocumented workers usually just get a slap on the wrist or a minimal fine. This has been true under Republican and Democrat administrations. Entire sectors of the economy run largely on undocumented labor, and that’s not going to change anytime soon.
Our entire economy is built on slave labor, fueled by lax border security.

The right lives to have it both ways...migrants walk over for asylum: open border! They get smuggled in: open borders!
Dear God we live in Idiocracy
Extremely doubtful they arrived across the border in the truck. Every truck is inspected. If they made it across the border in the truck, it means huge corruption within the US Border Patrol/DHS.
They likely walked across the border in the desert and then were picked up by the truck somewhere on the U.S. side of the border at a rendezvous point.
Do you know how long the southern border is? Do you think this truck just went through the checkpoints?

And if you dimwits think human trafficking will be stopped by a wall, you have another thing coming. You couldn't stop one guy with an AR-15 from mowing down dozens of children.
