Nope. Brother and I are very different people in extremely different life situations, live nowhere near each other, and just don't have that kind of relationship. Never have, even as kids. I am pleased and proud when he or his wife or kids do well, and vice versa.

Our own mother was the youngest of 4 girls close in age and often felt like she got short shrift or had to compete to be noticed because of it. She did not enjoy it and was very deliberate about setting us up with different activities, never comparing us, and keeping resource allocation exactly even to avoid a repeat.

Have a sibling who makes everything a competition.

It is tedious to deal with.

My sister is 8 years younger than me and highly competitive with me. I don’t think the age gap is related - it’s personality based.

My sister is super-competitive with me to the point that she tries to start screaming matches (I never take the bait and it kills her), badmouths me to mutual friends, tries to inveigle my kids into fights she picks with me (DD has figured this out but she still ropes DS in sometimes), etc.

I don’t want to be competitive with her because I simply don’t want to be around her. Besides the bad behavior to me, she’s also a drama queen who needs to be the center of attention. I’d rather not deal with her at all. I’m not competitive with her—it’s indifference and avoidance on my side.

Nope. I couldn't even even if I wanted to. They are much better than me in certain aspects, and I am much better than them in others. It's not even close for us.

Street races and competitions for money, things, stuff of earth....there is no comparison. What have you got under the hood? That's all I care about. I do not care how much you paid for it. Does it run, and can you drive?

Why would you be competitive against anyone? I compete against myself. There is no comparison between me and anyone else on earth, because I am an individual. I have one sibling who is an ordained minister, another who runs a food pantry/clothes closet in a needy area, and one who is deceased. I am the oldest. I live out west, they are all back east, and I have no intention of ever going back to that area. My life is elsewhere. I am a musician and a mechanic with a serious need for speed and danger and risk and wild adventure. I am a 50 yr old mother and grandmother of six. There is no comparison between myself and anyone. I just raced my car about an hr ago, because I can go 0-100 in 5.9 seconds, so catch me if you can.

We (five) all celebrate big when we win a game - scrabble, uno, basketball.
We all celebrate when one of us makes an awesome meal- the next one wants to make a yummy one too.
We celebrate when our kids work hard or have success.
