Mom of a senior here. DC never got a single signature in any yearbook. I started purchasing them in about 3rd grade. Honestly, yearbooks during elem school is silly.

I worked on yearbooks in junior high and high school and was editor as a senior. I think yearbooks are important, but I also know it's a different time now.

Not all kids can buy them so teachers try to minimize the signing aspect.

FFS, they are 14-18 years old and can’t write a sentence or 2? The same kids getting into prestigious colleges and taking a ton of AP classes? And they don’t have pens??

I think the yearbook signing is not that important. I have all mine from HS a d could care less. They are dust collectors. And now that kids have phones to store numbers, email, and photos, they mean less and less. Frankly they could probably just do one book to be stored at school and it would be just fine and save a bunch of money.

My 3rd grade DD had a bunch of signatures (not many messages, just names). My 8th grade DS did not have any.

My HS kids had lots of long messages in her yearbook from friends. Really thoughtful and kind stuff. All the kids have pens/pencils.

My kid has zero. Said maybe 4 people got a yearbook in his HR and they all put them away. I don't think they got a huge turnout for purchases and honestly, it is by far the ugliest yearbook I have every seen for almost $40. Like 50 pictures on each page, everything is dark, most kids are so cropped the have no neck in their photo. It is a disaster. Not sure if the school has a yearbook committee or parents are in charge, but JW should be ashamed to charge for that book. It's terrible.

Oh, please no. Not an online yearbook.

My MS kid took his yearbook in and probably had about 30 signatures. Their teachers encouraged it.

Mine too...lots of notes from other girls! And she really appreciated some of the notes from teachers.
I think the boys she asked just wrote their names.

Kid brought home this little first grade memory book and all the her classmates signed hers I thought it was a little bit more equitable than the yearbook which cost $20.
