Really? No shorts at all? I have some cute “nicer” shorts with a paper bag sort of top that look very put together. Would a pair of those be ok to mix it up?

Well, these might be okay. I also agree with the suggestion to wear dresses and sneakers, though.

Shoulders yes.

Aetrex makes comfortable sandals and they look nicer than teva/birkenstock.

I would also do more dresses. They are easy to wash in the sink and quick to hang up & dry.

Arms and heads covered for churches in Italy? I’ve heard knees and shoulders but not that. I thought that was mosques? Are you sure?

And it’s fairly easy to find a “fluff and fold” laundry in Rome and Florence. Probably even in by 9:00 and out by 5:00.

Where are you staying in each city?

Yes - laundry mats in every city

A lot of the laundromats automatically dispense soap, FYI. So no need to even bring soap.

It’s going to be a scorcher in August. Take extra clothes else you’d be doing laundry every night.

You don’t have to wear Tevas but I would choose Taos or another comfort sandal. There is so much walking on cobblestones - and your feet will swell in the heat. Not to be a Debbie Downer, but you will really be surrounded by tourists in all manner of clothing- most of the Italians will be wait staff or merchants.

What you are bringing sounds fine but people definitely wore mostly sundresses with either sandals or sneakers (veja would work). Don’t worry too much about bags. When you are in Florence there are leather markets all over the place and you can buy a bag or two. Prices are reasonable and the bags are great quality. The dresses don’t need to be fancy. You can find lightweight printed sundresses at Loft, Old Navy or Target that would fit right in. No one wore workout clothes.

I just got back from a 10 day trip to Italy and we did self service laundry in Florence, without issue. I brought a pod from home and also a bounce sheet so had no issues with strange fragrances.

Op here - I plan to have something and also several dresses and shirts with short sleeves at the least so my shoulders will be covered.

Italians really don't wear shorts.

She’s not Italian.
