I wish all kids & adults would wear rashguards to protect their skin. Most people are applying sunscreen with bad chemicals.

Need to think long term effects of sun and sunscreen.

We wear rashguards and use sunscreen with zinc oxide. Sure not best look but neither is Mohs procedure.

I think some of the hysterical posts must be imagining thong bikini bottoms with string tops. Or something. The reality is the "bikinis" look like modest bottoms and sports bra tops. What difference does it make if a bit of belly and back are out? Many boys have the full back and chest on display.

Yeah, I don't get it. Plus so many kids wear rash guards these days and it's so much easier to do that with a bikini bottom than a one piece. A lot of two piece suits offer more coverage than the average tank one piece, with shorts and sleeves. We do these often because I love minimizing sunscreen needs. But we also do skimpier ones for evening swims and I find they are easier to change in and out of.

Also, two piece suits tend to last longer because my kid has a long torso and will grow out of one pieces super fast.

Anyone who thinks seeing a girl’s torso is not appropriate is responding to sick intrusive thoughts. They feel shame for having those thoughts so they would rather police little girls from wearing what makes them feel comfortable and happy.

I let mine pick any suit. But, I also require a rash guard for sun protection.

I think a two piece is fine though as long as it’s cut for a kid body and not meant to be flashy. Same for any other clothing.

For this age group most "bikini" tops look more like cropped tank tops and I think those are cute with high waisted swim bottoms.

I'm letting my 9 year old wear a modest two piece suit this summer - she's been asking for two years and I finally found one that we both like. It has high waisted bottoms and a crop top like length and shows maybe 2" of her belly which I think is appropriate and makes her happy.

i'm European and I think girls should only wear bottoms until like 8? and then maybe a one piece until you get actual boobs. and babies should def be naked at the beach! Though i do see how rashguard and bottoms would be comfortable. When my son wears a rashguard i don't think of him as wearing a 2-piece bathing suit though.

My 8 yo daughter likes the Athleta suits which are mix and match in coordinating tops and bottoms. She has the bikini top which covers a lot, there are also rash guards, tankini tops, and board shorts. She wears the rash guard top as often as the bikini, mostly depending on the weather since the hotter and sunnier the more likely she is to burn, so sometimes she wants less sun exposure. I don't find any of these risqué or judgment worthy.

I got my 8 yo a swim suit with a bikini top this year. She'll mostly wear it under her rash guard, but will likely take off the rash guard and put on a cover up to ride home. Wearing a wet rash guard can be uncomfortable and cold. Having a sports bra style swim top under her rash guard means she can change poolside to head home. ::shrug::

Most of you should never go to Brazil.

I don't like anything on prepubescent girls that is designed to create the illusion of breasts or hourglass hips or both. That goes for pants, skirts, dresses, tops, and bathing suits, one piece or two piece. Many two piece bathing suits are totally fine, and some one pieces fail my test.
