What 3rd course? Again, we're at a W feeder and were specifically told it's either AMP 6+ or 7+ in 6th grade. Not AIM, algebra, or anything else.

I think folks need to take a breath. I know AIM was "promised" back when MCPS said they were rolling out a magnet-equivalent curriculum at every MS but the curriculum provider has since changed.

AMP 7+ in 6th grade is the equivalent of AIM. Don't panic. The next step is still Algebra I, and then Geometry, and onward from there.

Please specify the school. All MCPS Middle Schools now are supposed to have AIM, with seats offered at least to any student who was placed in, but not selected by, in the Math/Science/CS magnet lottery (Takoma Park or Clememte). If students are not being offered the course, and presuming they/parents want it, this should be escalated immediately.


+1 They said you are supposed to be offered AIM if in pool on the universal review letter. That is a big bait and switch. You can all review the letter in parentvue under documents.


The letter technically says that "local enriched programming ... *includes*" AIM, which I guess could mean they're not technically beholden to offering it...
