Weast got nothing done and was fired when he was caught getting payoffs from Pearson.
He was all about faking PR to sucker you in.

That's odd since Bethesda Magazine says he walked on water!

Thanks for providing a credible resource and setting the record straight. There are so many alt-right conspiracy theory posters here these days that you need to check everything.

Clearly you weren't paying attention when you were teaching. Weast didn't run the ship at all. He wasn't even here. He spent his time traveling and giving speeches around the globe. MCPS wasn't even tops in Maryland when Weast was superintendent. Do your homework.

The historical record documented by BB and WaPo contradicts your account. He was apparently a great leader and had high praise from many respected authorities in his field as being one of the top educators in the US at that time.

Odd? You mean that Bethesda Magazine covered up for Weast and failed to point out he had been fired for taking a two week trip to Australia paid for by Pearson right after he rammed through Pearson curriculum for MCPS? Yes, odd.

So this is just an alternative news conspiracy that isn't documented anywhere? How convenient.

Yes, the paid alt-right posters love revising history to suit their narrative that society is decline and the barbarians are at the gates. I think that was the Youngkin strategy.

Immediate injection of corruption - curriculum 2.0 redux anyone? Nice Pearson funded junkets to Australia and Nee Zealand? There I fixed it for you.

Again - problem is CULTURE in MCPS. Demand an MCPS IG or this will get worse….

Totally with you. It has been a rapid, ugly decline.

I'm SO, SO happy my youngest is graduating this year.

MCPS is in decline because they have no earthly idea how to serve students of color, which is where all the growth is. They are all talk and no action on equity, which does absolutely nothing but piss off the White parents.

No worries. Mcps does not discriminate like you think. They serve very few well and put very little focus on white kids and failed them too.

Not if you look at outcomes by race. Wealthy POC students do worse than poor White kids. Research shows schools treat POC different than White students. This is the schools' fault.

Umm…it’s not just the school’s fault - what about negative peer pressure? Other kids calling them “not black enough.” This is a problem.

White students have negative peer pressure too. There is clear research showing that teachers expect less of Black students and subject then to worse punishments for the same behavior compared with White students. I wouldn't be very motivated under those circumstances either.

I'm curious about how "clear" this "research" is that you're citing and whether it has been done for MCPS, but in my experience, MCPS bends over backwards to accommodate BIPOC students.

If you were that "curious" you would look it up. It's not hard. Not gonna waste my time on someone who actively chooses to be ignorant and then claims to be "curious". GTFOOH.

I looked it up, and didn't find anything remotely on point for this discussion. I think you and I both know that MCPS does a ton to support and accommodate BIPOC students, who nevertheless underperform academically (percentage-wise) and are overrepresented with disciplinary problems. Now maybe you want to believe that that's because of unfair treatment, but that doesn't at all track with actual experience in those schools.

You and I both know you didn't look very hard. You and I both know you think Black people are inherently less intelligent and more violent than White people which is the only way you can explain the outcomes of wealthy BIPOC kids in MCPS without acknowledging systemic racism.

Kid gloves and low expectations = lower performance

Wow. You don't know any Black people, do you?

I don't know if I'd buy that. Those kids are already on the ground level in terms of performance. No amount of money bring them up. I guess one good news is they can't go down any lower.

Really? My kids are getting an amazing education. Like they say you can lead a horse to water...

Objectively, this probably isn't true, but I am sure that they are getting good grades.

When did that stop the same old posters from pushing ficitons and conspiracies?
