Because of that alone, I'm reluctant to move from Tesla to a different electric vehicle charger.
They are hugely popular in California. I don't think they make as much sense in places like Maine, Montana, Nebraska, because electric batteries lose charge in very cold conditions.
I know a few people who work on environmental issues and they’re all po’d at Musk for making his chargers different from all the other companies’ chargers. This means that charging stations have to buy and maintain two different types of chargers. It’s a real waste.
That’s my post and I 100% agree with your friends. It’s like when the railroads first came out and it was all run by different companies that didn’t necessarily even use the same gauge track. It is a shame the government didn’t jump in earlier to figure this out. Teslas can use no Tesla chargers with an adaptor. They need to get an adaptor to let no. Teslas use the Tesla charger and figure out some incentive or threat to make musk allow that.

I have the three and drove to myrtle beach with just a 15 minute stop (which I needed for coffee and bathroom anyway). The superchargers are very fast and are programmed so that the first 15 minutes is super super fast — after that the charging speed diminishes somewhat so there is less incentive to sit around and fill a supercharger spot. I guess if you can drive 6 hours without peeing, then the charging is irritating. I need to pee every few hours anyway so it’s NBD for me to stop to charge. They are usually at a sheetz or a strip mall so you can grab a drink.

I was just in Montana visiting family and didn’t see a single Tesla. I forgot that they just really are not a popular car outside the urban hubs.

This. You rarely see them outside major cities, particularly blue areas.
I live in a red-purple area. Another state outside DMV. I see them all the time. My kids used to be excited, now it’s like every 10th or 15th car.

I don't. They either exaggerated or drive really slowly. Even if they have the performance model and not long range, they shouldn't be stopping every 2-3 hours.

Why can't General Motors fix the battery problem with the Chevy Bolt? I was all set to buy one & the dealer says he can't sell it to me. Teslas are nice but come with too much "baggage," if you catch my drift.
