I mean... it's bad. We're not sending our kid there if they get in. But I am curious to see how the WL goes.



Here's hoping they get in and you pass up your spot so those of us who are excited about the school can get in!

Insecurity. People are so insecure about their decision that they have to convince others (and themselves) that the other options are not good. This happens in every thread here.


+100 A lot of this feels like people who bailed on DC because their friends or family convinced them they needed to and now in order to prevent any semblance of buyer's remorse they double down and overcompensate. They are like the person who can't stop harping on or bashing their ex-GF/BF and follows it up with, "but I'm so over them". Someone who is secure in their own choices and life doesn't focus on what others have or don't. I don't get angry at people like that, I feel sad for them.

Man the building and area is just so depressing. There is no way I would send my DC there. Just move to the burbs to a nice house and school with great academics and facilities and call it a day if you lost out in the lottery. It’s not like you can’t move back into the city in 6 years,

Let me preface this with, I am not sending my kid to Latin II for many of the reasons others have stated. Having said that, what does it change if you find out this week vs next? I understand you want to know now but in the grand scheme of things it changes nothing. It would be a different story if we were talking about June vs August. They are building an entirely new campus. I have heard it referred to as building an airplane while flying it. There are a ton of moving parts and because they aren't yet operational they don't yet have a full complement of staff to support their needs. This is part of signing up for a new school. If an immaterial thing like a week or two on the WL bothers you then you may want to reconsider whether Latin II is a good fit for you. For my family the unknowns and inevitable growing pains were not something we were willing to endure/risk. To each her own.


I think we're all asking ourselves not "Will there be growing pains?" but "How bad will the growing pains be?" And taking a few weeks to process some pretty basic forms is kinda underwhelming. If it's this hard maybe they aren't ready to expand.


I understand and, as I said, to each her own. What I will suggest is that this will be minor compared with some of the growing pains likely over them coming months and potentially years.

Latin 2 will offer a summer program two first weeks of August. I'd like to know if my kid will be attending. But also just general anxiety to see how the waitlist will behave once the first round is cleared.
