Reposting 2 responses here and I have a question:
You need to be going to work with the vast majority of those “runny noses and tummy bugs,” unless you’re projectile vomiting or having nonstop diarrhea (rare). Load up with some DayQuil and get to work.
Working remotely with COVID? Yes. For “sniffles and tummy bugs?” No.
So we should go to work with a stomach bug that causes nausea and vomiting as long as it's not projectile vomiting?

My workplace has essentially told everyone that going forward, we should not come in if sick with anything. Work remotely if you feel up to it, otherwise take sick leave. But do not under any circumstances come in sick. Given that we worked for 1.5 years completely remote and the sky didn’t fall down, I’d say this policy is the correct one. (Of Course this doesn’t apply to jobs where the workers physical presence is necessary)
NP but to offer a counterpoint I would be pretty annoyed if a coworker took off a few days for each cold or sniffle. Because someone else has to pick up their entire workload and it’s exhausting and leading to burnout. And if several people stay home with a cold (not Covid, a cold) then it leaves those of us at work picking up the slack.
Your management is staffing too leanly; sure they get a bonus for making 4 people do the job of 6, and you get stuck like this.

OP, what state do you work in? Even if FMLA doesn’t apply or kick in, some states have sick leave laws that protect you and your job. A manager making those types of comments that could be perceived as discriminatory based on health or familial status is a walking liability for the employer.

Yes, adults go to work with colds and minor illnesses. Welcome to being a responsible grownup.
And OP says she hasn't missed much work from her illnesses. But imagine feeling too sick to really get any work done and really needing a day of rest- or your kid is home vomiting and you need to take care of him- and the response is "buck up get get to work!". Does that really make you happy, to live your life that way? If not- if you'd actually like to use sick time yourself when you're feeling too ill to work- why the ridicule and anger at people actually using their sick time that I'm seeing on this thread? It's really gross.
It's one thing to have no sick time and be living paycheck to paycheck, because our country is abysmal, and to have to live with that awful fact. But if you have sick time and./or are getting your work done remotely, to be chided by your boss for having the audacity to be sick and to have it be mentioned that you're sick... like, why? People get sick!
NP here and I totally agree. Also, I don't have kids but I understand that people's kids get sick occasionally and they have to call out or work from home periodically. We aren't robots.

Op - you may think you're meeting deadlines and doing great work, despite your best efforts while juggling all the colds/covid, but your manager doesn't agree....maybe your performance technically checks the boxes, but it might be lackluster. Or maybe XYZ project, while completed on time (and, again, checked off the boxes) was simply mediocre at best.

This is a response from a privileged. A huge portion of the population gets no sick leave and every sick event causes a risk of unemployment. Sadly people in this position have no other options.
But that’s not OPs situation nor, likely, is it the situation for most people posting here.

It doesn't mean people need to accept being treated terribly. Then people complain about women becoming SAHM - this is why it happens.
