For upholstery, try Bassett. Not a "sexy" brand but excellent price to quality ratio and their Benchmade line is fully customizable.

Also highly recommend taking a trip down south to High Point, NC. If you want access to designer only showrooms but don't have a designer, the town runs a complimentary concierge service and a designer will take you there. Furnitureland South is also an amazing gem that carries tons of American-made quality brands.

I am surprised and sad to hear about the two PPs whose MGBW sofas are falling apart! We have a few of their pieces (upholstered bed, case goods) from 10 years ago that have held up as well as our RH pieces. We are doing a new build and I planned to look there for sofas, but maybe I won't after that.

Have not had good experiences with PB quality, particularly for case goods.

I’ve loved MGBW for years but we bought two of their sofas in 2019 and the cushions are sagging horribly. They look awful already. I’m really ticked because they weren’t cheap. I think their quality has gone way downhill. We also have a sectional from them in our game room that is going strong seven years later but my more recent experience has turned me off from the brand.

I like (love) Room and Board for wooden items, but what about for upholstery?

Should my next sofa be from them?

Not sure if PP is still lurking, but curious what you mean by "willing to take a chance" Is it because it's customized, the final finishes might not match what you expected?

We find ourselves gravitating towards Room and Board. A couple pieces from West Elm. Have completely transitioned away from C&B. Some nicer pieces here and there from Design within Reach

Macys, for certain things. They have a good app too so user friendly.

Ethan Allen. I didn't think their prices were so bad, and I am cheap lol. Do not like their $250 delivery fee. I like room and board with $79 delivery fee, they have good stuff too.
Also interior define is always advertising to me, and they are in tysons. Seem reasonable price, unsure of quality. Have zero experience with them. If you are looking for some random furnishings, sometimes Home Sense and Home goods have some suprsingly good stuff.

Where does Casterly fit on the range? Is it like Wayfair or better?

Honestly my IKEA kitchen set is the best purchase we have made. It’s lasted 12 years, 3 moves. I have 2 different chair covers for spring/summer and fall/winter that are washable. Bought as a space filler for a rental and can’t seem to part with it.
Our living room furniture is from Ethan Allen, Pottery Barn, and Article. But I probably wouldn’t repurchase any of it.

This isn't true across the board. A good amount of their upholstery is made my Lee Industries. That's a top brand.

You are probably talking about case goods.

I've had no problems with two media stands, counter stools and a sectional from C&B. I have a few of those leatherette storage cubes and they are peeling after a few years. We are rough on them so I'm not surprised.
