I already answered this. First #1 everyone tests. If you are NEGATIVE and VACCINATED and show no symptoms (asymptomatic) you can go back to school. “Asymptomatic” in this context means no symptoms. NOT that they have COVID with no symptoms. People, this isn’t that complicated!

That’s reasonable. But the differentiation of vaccinated versus unvaccinated is not based on any solid public health data.

Make all the kids wear masks, because it is very clear that vaccinated kids are just as likely to transmit Covid as unvaccinated kids.

My DC was involved with a school-sponsored activity that seemingly led to a number of cases. All involved kids have been asked to wear masks for next ten days. I don’t think anyone is tracking though as it’s a lot of kids in a lot of classes.

If a kid is not vaccinated and tests negative, that kid should be allowed back in the classroom.

Yeah, I’m vaccinated and currently have Covid as a result of a close contact exposure. I need to test for work and I tested negative on Day 1-3. Tested positive on Day 4.

By this policy, I could have been happily showing up at school and eating lunch in the cafeteria.

that’s pretty silly that they’re distinguishing between vaccinated/unvaccinated, given that the vaccine doesn’t strongly protect against transmissible infection.

Sure. But that’s been the MCPS policy all along.

I’ll be a conspiracy theorist and say that far-left MoCo has an interest in incentivizing vaccination, especially since - in general - those that are unvaccinated have parents who are least able to stay at home with them for the quarantine period.

You might be right. But they shouldn’t be able to implement random policies just to strong arm parents into making medical decisions.

I will not be bullied into getting my 2nd grader unnecessarily vaccinated. But I’m pretty fortunate that my kids are doing well in school and that I can work from home, when necessary.

We’re at a lower-income school and about 1/2 of my kid’s class is vaccinated. This will just result in some ES kids unnecessarily missing 5 days of school, which can’t be great for kids who are already behind after last year’s virtual disaster.

And how are they keeping track of which kids are vaccinated? And how they enforcing that these vaccinated kids are masked ALL day. And at breakfast/lunch.
