I'm fully vaxxed/boosted... but don't you think there are other people in that restaurant that aren't vaccinated besides your cousins? Eating out has some inherent risk if you are Covid cautious, so you just have to decide if you are ok with it. If you are ok with eating out, it doesn't make much sense to make sure your cousins are vaccinated.


Vaccinated get Covid. They also spread it.

OP here --- please know that I did NOT ask if they were vaccinated or not prior to inviting them to join us for brunch. They accepted the invite, then on their own shared that "however please know that none of us are vaccinated...so let us know if that's an issue for you or your mom"......at which point my response was "we will sit in outdoor area that is covered but still partially ventilated....my mom can sit opposite end of table"

The only overstepping was maybe when I..totally out of curiosity because this was being requested by employers at one point...asked "do you do weekly rapid tests since you are not vaccinated?"

Her response was "OMG...so we're still a threat?" -- which I thought was bit overreacting.


So here is the actual story. They were ok with the dinner parameters and then you kept pushing.

Do you do weekly testing OP?

If you are in public, you are encountering unvaccinated people and people who are vaccinated who may be sick.

Last year, this time, I would've said heck no. At this point, both my parents are vaxxed and boosted (3 shots total) and if it was outdoors, I'd probably see them going.

Exactly. And they also pretend not to understand that an elderly person, like OP s mom -- even one who is vaxxed and boosted -- can still get very sick and even die from COVID. So, in response to the cousin's question, "Are we still a threat?", I would respond, "Yes, you are still a threat. Have a nice mother's day and enjoy being a selfish liar."

Is the issue covid or that you don't like your cousins anymore? If the issue is covid, then yes, I would go, but I assume that there will be others at the restaurant who are not vaccinated and maybe even have covid.

OP, do you not see the irony here? You are implying derision of your cousins because they believe they are immune to covid after having it twice (which, frankly, they probably are), and yet here you are, asking other people that you don't even know what you should think and do in this situation.

Everyone is on their own with this OP. Do whatever you want to. No one cares anymore.
