SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under direction of the Chief of School Support and Well-Being, leads, coordinates, implements, administers, and evaluates the Office of Well-Being, Learning and Achievement to effectively align the districtwide Be Well 365 framework with high quality instructional leadership practices in support of district initiatives and school leadership; This role includes a comprehensive program of student services and family engagement, including pupil personnel, school psychology, counseling, school health, International Enrollment and Admissions, Student Engagement and Behavioral Health (Restorative Justice), graduation improvement, parent community coordinators, and the MCPS Be Well 365 comprehensive plan. The associate may provide direct targeted and differentiated supervision, coaching, and evaluating of principals of special schools. In addition, the associate leads the learning and achievement team to ensure the horizontal and vertical integration of wellness and instructional practices within the Office of Well-Being and School Support developing a comprehensive and robust system plan for wellness and social emotional learning and bringing these practices to scale across the system. Works collaboratively with other associates and directors to ensure the holistic implementation and alignment of student and staff support services in achieving the district strategic priorities. Serves as a liaison to Montgomery County Government, community, and private agencies.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the chief of school support and well-being, the associate superintendent of school support and well-being provides direct targeted and differentiated supervision, coaching, and evaluating of principals of high impact schools as defined by the following multiple measures: FARMS Rate/Title 1, Focus Schools, novice principals, wellness data, and school performance data; provides direct targeted and differentiated supervision, coaching, and evaluating of principals of special schools. The associate superintendent ensures a quality education for every student by supervising, coaching, supporting, and evaluating directors of school support and well-being (DSSWs) and ensuring every school is led by principals who demonstrate exemplary instructional leadership and efficient fiscal and operational management; promote equity and cultural responsiveness; and foster safe, caring and supportive school learning communities. Builds the capacity of DSSWs to select, support, and evaluate principals in their roles as instructional leaders day-to-day and over time. Builds synergistic partnerships among principals, parents, businesses, and other community stakeholders in the educational process. Is responsible for, and monitors, systemic school improvement processes to ensure school performance goals are aligned to local, state, and national accountability standards and address student and adult learning needs. Manages and facilitates the processes for the selection and evaluation of principals and holds DSSWs and principals accountable to improving the conditions of teaching and learning in each of their schools. The associate superintendent is responsible for ensuring the district's mission and goals are achieved, while collaborating with district personnel and other executive staff members to ensure consistency of practice and prioritization of resources focused on academic achievement and equitable practices for all. As a member of the senior leadership team, the associate superintendent ensures that DSSWs, with districtwide collaboration, provide differentiated and targeted support for principals to be effective instructional leaders.


Assistant Chief, Communications

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The ACC provides strategic advice and counsel to the superintendent and fellow cabinet members. The ACC supports the superintendent's communications to the board. The ACC develops the district's overall communications plan and ensures alignment with the superintendent and board's broader strategic plan. The ACC directs the district's day-to-day internal and external communications functions, including MCPS-TV, public information and web services, and language services. The ACC coordinates with the district's community relations and government relations functions to ensure consistency in messaging to various audiences and stakeholders. The ACC manages coordinated campaigns to advance the superintendent's priorities in the community and among local, state, and national policymakers. The ACC partners with employee associations, community organizations, and other stakeholders to build and maintain coalitions in support of the district. The ACC utilizes multiple communications channels, including email platforms, social media, web sites, and traditional news outlets (i.e. newspapers, radio, and tv). The ACC expands the district's communications infrastructure, including email, phone, and text/sms lists. The ACC advances the district's branding and marketing initiatives through earned media and paid media. The ACC leads the district's crisis communications and rapid-response efforts. The ACC identifies and leverages opportunities to position the superintendent as a thought leader in state and national policy circles. The ACC oversees speechwriting and message development for the superintendent as well as top surrogates. The ACC produces high-impact, two-way events such as town hall meetings, stakeholder roundtable discussions, and state of the district presentations. The ACC stimulates new ideas and initiatives to build communications capacity throughout the district, including in the schools.

+1 No transparency and no need for the added layers of administrators.

We need more staff for basically every position that directly works with students, not more administrators. Ridiculous priorities that most definitely is not putting MCPS students first.

Dang, I was going to give her the benefit of the doubt but she really blew it with this. No visibility as to how and what any new positions or consultants are
doing. They get hired and we never hear from them again. Like we all know, we need this funding to go to supporting teachers and students.

That's what the GOP/white nationalists said about Ketanji Brown Jackson. Except she's exceptionally qualified. Go figure - you can do both!

This is the phrasing that bothered you? "These new positions will add diverse and seasoned professionals to an already strong, dedicated team..."

She continues "...we are well-positioned to seek applications, hire and onboard experienced leaders..."
