Otherwise Chez Billy Sud in Georgetown. I have heard great things about St. Anselm so would be willing to go a little further to check it out. It's new and why not if you don't get out that much? Have fun!
OP here - thank you! Exactly the type of recommendation I was looking for.
Are you driving? Because St Anslem is a much better choice then. Also I love the Dabney, but you asked a specific question
and PP was so right to recommend S.A. over Dabney for it. Honestly though, please just stay in Virginia.
We would like t Uber/Lyft so we don’t have to worry about drinking, parking, etc. I didn’t respond to the PP recommending St. Anselm over Dabney, nor have I ruled I either out. Stop telling me to stay in VA!
Where in VA are you coming from?
Falls Church

I'm the PP who said I understand OP. I don't know anything about Union Market - there's nothing drawing me over there so I have no reason to visit. St. Anselm doesn't sound good to me at all. My point was you should respect when people don't want to go to a certain part of town. Shaming people for not wanting to take a certain level of risk is ridiculous. Just because you're happy with a 1 in 1,000 chance of being shot doesn't mean everybody else needs to be.
You understand that there are a lot of restaurants in that area now right?
And what

Union Market, 1 in 1,000 chance of being shot 😂😂😂 Y’all crack me up. Oh well, guess that means easier reservations at Masseria, St. Anselm, and Stellina, shorter lines at Pluma and Annare, better chance of nabbing a seat at Cotton + Reed, Suburbia, or Hi-Lawn. 1 in 1,000. I’m dying (of laughter, not gunshots, which I never ever heard at Union Market of all places).

I have a wife and four kids to be responsible for - I'm not taking the risk of going to dangerous parts of DC no matter how many Karens try to shame me for it. Personally, I think most of the best restaurants in DC are downtown. I'm not a huge Italian lover but if I had to pick, Modena or Sfoglina.
How would you know that the best restaurants are downtown if you've never ventured to the "dangerous" parts?
I do love all these posters asking for Italian, but rejecting the neighborhood with the Michelin-starred Italian restaurant 🙄
Same! Love the suburbanites asking for recs + then rejecting/insulting every idea offered.
