Man, the parking lot looks just as depressing as the building.

But Latin Cooper will infuse it with joy! That parking lot will be full of murals, artwork, etc, by the end of the year. You will want to go there yourself.

LOL! Sarcasm at its best.

It's definitely not ideal but it's only for a few years. Not a Latin parent here, but I do wish it success (not that I think it needs a lot of luck in that).

Have you seen the parking lot? I'll take the National Mall over that parking lot any day.

Basis agrees!

Thanks. That makes sense. Hope all is going well!

It seems to be going fine. He will know what to expect when school year begins. Latin 2nd Street used to host shadow days for fourth graders, but they didn't have them last academic year (I reached out to them several times). Since this is a new school, any such additional stability/establishing of expectations is extra important.

Oh, and for those on this board who were worried about recess, they have three places where kids can go during recess: the parking lot, the gym, and the music room for quiet time. Those kids who want to be active can still run around, but those who have traditionally not enjoyed recess as too rowdy have a different option. I thought that was a nice solution to the practical program of less outdoor space.

What do the OMG BASIS KIDS HAVE NO OUTDOOR SPACE parents have to say about this?

We have a rising 5th grader enrolled at 2nd St (yes, we won the lottery). Why would there be orientation for one group of incoming kids in early Aug but not other incoming students at 2nd?

Or is this the optional summer school program and not orientation?

Likely because it’s a new campus, etc. Calm down.

—-Parent of another rising 5th grader at Latin 2nd St who will never utter the words “we won the lottery” unless its the MegaMillions

The traffic is not going well. It is going to be a disaster when all the schools are back in that warehouse zone
