It’s likely, she didn’t dump him over money. It could be just what she told him. Or it could be what he’s telling you, as his over sympathetic mother. He’s could have been told the real reason and is just telling you what would make your blood boil.
This is life. For whatever the reason, they are just not a good fit. 2 years at that age is nothing. Just be Glad they found out before marriage or having a child together. It could be views as mature that they broke up.

It could be. There's a whole movement of young women about the girlfriends age focused on dating men with money

She dumped him because he is not making enough money. He is currently living in a condo owned by DH and I and driving a 2015 Prius. He has a good paying job at Amazon AWS making about 140k/yr.
He is very depressed at the moment. As his mother, I told him that the best revenge is to get a better GF than the previous one. There are so many fish in the ocean, you don't need to feel sorry for yourself. That's her loss.
Am I saying the right thing here?
I would dump someone over this.

It doesn’t matter if sea is overpopulated with the fish, he loved one fish for two years and wanted her.
This is the best, deepest, most thoughtful advice I've read on this site. There are a lot of jellyfish in the sea, but one pufferfish in your fishtank you developed that was compatible with your quirks. No, you aren't saying the right thing. Revenge isn't apropos -he got dumped not robbed. Stop looking for better, but rather the right fit for him.Anonymous wrote:My twenty five years old son got dumped by his GF after two years in a relationship two weeks ago and he was devastated, still is. There could be girls out there like this --for sure in the web-order bride circuit. But DS's emotions are that of a guy that f---ed up. The sadness OP describes that you talk enough to your dad about aren't of wishing you made more than $140K at 25.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:That’s not why she dumped him.

He never asked me out and even friendzoned and mistreated me for no reason. But he was scared his parents were going to find out what an @$$ he turned into in at UVa, so he preemtively played the victim card (which both his parents saw through after meeting me). Stop coddling and make him take responsibility. Call his ex and get her side of the story and offer to buy her dinner if she helps you get CONSTRUCTIVE feedback on what girl would put up with DS and what he could do better.Anonymous wrote:That’s not why she dumped him.
