I wouldn’t unless there are absolutely no other names you like as much. Or id do as someone else suggested and switch the middle and first names but call them by their middle (although this would be annoying for them).

My friend’s initial’s were EAR and she really hated it and it’s not even an embarrassing word or anything. I just think it’s best to avoid spelling any words or recognizable acronyms if possible.

Did you know your school aged friends full name and initials? I did not. It doesn't matter and nobody cares. My sister's initials are PMS. Nobody ever said anything, but also only ger BFF knew.

You are all thinking of what this will be like as a child. I work in a professional field, and in my first job, all the attorneys were referred to by their initials. Our email addresses were our initials @ our firm name. In my current position, our employee logins are our first, middle and the first three letters of our last names, and those initials appear on all documents we receive from our employers, and they are the cover sheets for many things that get printed. I would avoid any combination of initials that is a "word", and we also searched our kids' initials to make sure they weren't an acronym for anything problematic as well.

Just bc you pay an extra $10 to get their ll bean backpack monogrammed doesn’t make it not tacky. Lol at your college kid with his monogrammed rolling duffle bag.


The rolling duffel is for overnight camp, but yes, they will be using it to haul ski clothes and eventually loading stuff into a college dorm. If they truly care, I’m sure they can cover it.

For the person with WTF initials. I probably wouldn't have changed my name, those are the best ever!

Could you flip the first and middle name and just call kid by the middle name? Then initials would be RBA.

We use initials a lot in my house and have things monogrammed. Both parents are also Southern and this is a cultural thing!

I had the same issue--my daughter would have been PMS. We picked a different name.
