Most elite schools have adopted the business school approach. You aren't there to learn, you are there to get a high paying job, folks who don't think this is true are kidding themselves. The hard work was getting in to the school. Going from 7+ AP/honors classes for 7+ hours a day to 5 classes spaced out for 3-4 hours a day max is a cakewalk.

This list was a joke, right? Since these are the most rigorous schools? Although, I have heard MIT, but I think it is only a party school relative to the law others.

I was basically an alcoholic level partier. I think we maybe didn't out Sundays?? Graduated with a 3.0 which was all I needed since I didn't want to go to grad school. I was not alone going out all those nights, and friends are now lawyers, doctors, PhDs etc.

haha well having no older sibling of the same gender....kinda hard. That said, there were NO freshman or even sophomores in this bar on a Tuesday night - it was known as Senior Night. And frankly because they didn't know anyone, it's not like they'd even try even if they had a good id. Ah such fun days. weekends, sure they'd all try to sneak in.

Haha me too! We once had a streak of more than 100 days, which we were quite proud of.

For those wondering, Sunday-Wednesday we would work until around 10 and then go out until 1 or 2. I did well enough to get into a T10 law school. I think people often do not appreciate how much time you have in college to get things done.

Multi-tasking and efficient combined with natural intelligence leaves the individual with a lot of free time.

I made it my mission that if I were going to party hard, I would never miss class. I was a science major which had all classes early in the morning because of afternoon labs.

I often rolled into class with my prior night outfit on under a long coat and stamps up my arm.

I learned from the Master. My dad always told us that if you pay attention/listen in class, you don't have to do as much on your own later.

Showing up. That's a biggie.

This area is full of 'try hard', book smart people that don't get it.

^ and of course I mean of my kids class. I cannot speak to anyone in a different class as we don't know them clearly. My kids have been very surprised with the amount of partying and word for word they said "You didn't get into UVA from our school if you partied like these kids do."

That said, they are also doing the same. Many, if not most, of their friends saying that they were not like this in HS and they are just basically using their newfound freedom to try new things.
