Ha! Exactly. My husband and I are both scientists. We're not pushing science on our kids. One of them is interested, the other is not. It's all fine.

My DS majored in English. He works for a publishing company and does some freelance writing. Probably won’t be “wealthy”, but is happy.


My DS plays video game all day long in his room, but is happy.

DS22 applied as English major, backed up by ECs that match that. I think it helped him get admitted to a top 20 college. Who knows what he’ll do when he starts there. He’s also good at math and CS. Could easily see him majoring in whatever strikes his fancy at college.

Again, only from elite schools (whether public or private). Your JMU history major isn’t going to be “recruited” for consulting or finance.

Firstly, consulting and finance are not coding. It actually involves a lot of human interaction, business travel, etc.

Secondly, the IT field is the most exciting, innovative, and futuristic field.
Where have you been in the past 40 years? in a cave??

DS wants to study history, so he's taking plenty of humanities. DD wants to work with animals, and will therefore take a STEM-heavy course load.
