Honey, if I could change it, I would. Please, come over and whip them into shape. Especially DH. He needs parenting boot camp.
I mean this with kindness. This is your opportunity to let him figure it out. Do nothing. Do not let your son learn “learned helplessness”. If they cannot wash a pot, they can figure out what they will eat. Maybe a few days of cold cereal will make them more willing to wash a pot.

Do it - we need a united front. I declare spring of 2022 the Working Moms Dinner Strike. We are not cooking until our demands are met! We are buying cereal, TV dinners, bagged salad, frozen rice, tortillas, chicken nuggets, Hormel chili, oatmeal, canned beans, etc. and tossing it in a box on the kitchen floor!

My mom went on strike when I was a teenager or maybe not quite a teenager. It was very effective. She did the grocery shopping but we were on our own to eat it. If she cooked herself dinner she would make enough for us to eat, but that was not every night. I remember her also helping me cook sometimes when I asked her to. I don’t know how long her strike lasted, but it was at least several weeks. Maybe several months. Things never went back to the way they’d bees before. Like I said. Very effective.
This gives me hope, thank you. I'm imagining a few months for real effect.

TJ has a great chicken pot pie in its own heatable container. Costco has several fresh heat and serve things too. The meatloaf with mashed potatoes is a favorite with my guys.

Chicken in instapot with salsa over it. 8min. It easily shreds and makes chicken quesadillas easy.

Baked frozen fried shrimp. Use a piece of foil on baking sheet and they won’t have to wash anything.

That's where I'm at now. But their solution will be $75/night uber eats if I don't at least stock up some stuff they can toss on a plate. I can't afford that lifestyle.
