There’s a lot wrong with that house. The shared driveway/garage is a huge turnoff for practical reasons. No front door, just the side entry. There’s no place to put a watchable TV. They cheaped out with the open shelving in the kitchen and I hate the way the upper cabinets don’t quite reach the ceiling. Master bathroom space poorly designed.

Agreed. School districts aren’t great causing most younger families to leave and move to Vienna and Fairfax city once the kids get older.

I think the tide is turning there—when people are spending this much, it isn’t a starter home and a lot of them will stay.

Nobody is moving from Del Ray (and a very short commute to DC) to Fairfax City. Folks in Del Ray (nowadays) have the money to pay for private school if they don't like MVCS and GWMS.

It's adorable. People don't want to live far in sprawl out with an insane commute. Big houses with empty space also seem depressing for a lot of people.

In that location, though, you can walk to thirteen playgrounds. I used to live right there.

This place looks like a duplex to me with side entrances.

I know the buyer’s agent (who is great and very professional, if I was looking to buy a home she’d be my first choice). There was a pretty aggressive bidding war between 6 potential buyers.

I agree it is super ugly on the outside but apparently several people disagree with me.

As cliche as it sounds, plenty of mid to high income millennials are flocking to Del Ray and surrounding neighborhoods like Beverly Hills.

It just shows you how much people want to live in a neighborhood like that that is walkable and makes you feel like a part of something. People are willing to sacrifice a lot in the shortcomings of these houses in order to live here. I get it.
