They are probably more effective at killing themselves then other people because they know what works and what doesn’t. My sibling is a psychiatrist and I have learned, for example, that is actually very hard to kill yourself with pills. It is also hard to kill yourself with a knife. A lot of times people who jump don’t do it effectively and just wind up disabling themselves for life. They probably know the right combination of pills and how to jump effectively to kill themselves.

Well 1) desperation is the most common condition they treat and spending all your time around depressed people is depressing 2) it’s a very isolating life, talking to a succession of depressed etc people all day in a room otherwise alone 3) they can’t tell anyone about what they listen to all day much of which is sad/scary/traumatizing. They can only share anonymously with colleagues at set times if that.

The one psychiatrist I know is weird. She doesn't like people and is socially awkward. I remember being surprised when I first met her because I assumed you wouldn't go into that field if you were anti-social.

Low income makes low debt more difficult to pay back compared to high income paying off higher debt. They still get life of high income years after paying off their debt.

Optometrists have one of the lowest rates.

Psychologist have drastically lower salaries compared to psychiatrists but they have less work load, easier cases and no or limited access to meds. They also spend less time in college and training and admission or fold isn’t a competitive one so less stress and less student debt.

Weird they college educated people are more likely to stay with cheaters.

Among physician specialties, a whopping 73 percent of psychiatrists said they suffered from depression. It is quite likely that this high rate of depression among psychiatrists contributes to the higher rate of divorce among psychiatrists

They take care of sicker patients who need medication and have more serious diagnoses maybe that is why they are more detached.

All the psychologists I know project their trauma. Some I even know from childhood and had mental illness from back then. Psychiatrists have access to drugs so maybe they are worse. I don't know that many psychiatrists but they seem more detached than the psychologists from their patients. Maybe they have the same trauma as psychologists but don't know how to work through it without drugs and that goes awry.
