It is probably the worst real estate decision we've ever made. The condo we bought is way, way too small. During Covid, it has been torturous to be here with small kids. And our income has gone up by a lot, so what might have been a stretch when we bought in 2019 would not be now. Unfortunately, we're stuck because SFH prices have gone through the roof. We're definitely priced out of the larger SFH houses now.
Get the house you really love. You're going to be there a long, long time.

+1. Both subject lines are oddly capitalized and posted at the same time.

We toured it and it’s a very nice home, but more expensive and bigger than we need. My wife is understanding but definitely looked disappointed when I mentioned the price was much more than I prefer to spend. We can afford the home - I would just prefer not to spend that much. My friend told me to get her the house she wants, even if it’s more expensive. Do I buy her the home to make her happy?

OP here. It will be about $16k/month. We were approved for up to $3.2m so we definitely have the money. We have a very large savings account and a large down payment. Our HHI will increase if my wife goes back to work once kids are in school.

The women described sound like opposites, except that both would like a nicer home.
